Hi Folks-

We expect to give the "go" to print the counters, maps, and boxes this week as all look very good in the proofing stage.

We also expect to send the rules and scenarios to the printer at the beginning of next week. We are still finighing up the last of the edits on both.

So, fingers crossed and all things going well, we are looking good to make Winter Offensive with Festung Budapest in hand!

Re: Festung Budapest Update

Great news!! Sale was great. Picked up AP6. Any approximate shipping date for FB? I dont really know when or where Winter Offensive is. Live down here in the "boonies" in Memphis. Hard to get up there for all the tournaments and stuff. :( Appreciate all the hard work you and the others guys at MMP do.

Re: Festung Budapest Update

Nice point Mike...I also live in the boonies (NW Illinois) I also can't make it to any of the big tourneys, basically because I never hear of them. Too bad MMP didn't have a list of upcoming tourneys.

Now I know the guys at MMP are to busy to coralate all needed info, but they should put up a board to let everyone else post events. This would also promote the game further and let us gamers know if and when something is close enough to play.

Like Mke said MMP you're doing a great job. Keep churning the ASL out and I'll keep sending you my retirement fund. LOL

Re: Festung Budapest Update

Happy Holidays!

And let's try this again (For it didn't seem to post my comments just a second ago)

Yes, when do you all see AP #8 and FESTUNG BUDAPEST shipping for the rest of us that live in FAR, FAR and AWAY? (No, not with Shrek; but sunny but cooler Florida)

And what's the lastest on The RISING SUN module and anything else ASL like getting the "TEMPORARILY Out of Stock" items like ARMIES of OBLIVION, CODE of the BUSHIDO, and HOLLOW LEGIONS restocked. Or any other plans for the heavily pursued items that are all "Out of Print" like Starter Packs #1 and #2 Yanks, Partisan, Gung Ho, and Croix de Guerre? Just curious, especially with Armies of Oblivion and RISING SUN.

Finally, thanks for the BLACK FRIDAY SALE where I was able to pick up AP #3 for a very reasonable price (couldn't get in online anywhere easy at the time), Blood Reef - Tarawa
Gamers Guide (despite still not having acquired BRT yet, and finally, getting one of MMP's Special Ops periodicals also. Great job on your marketing crew on the sale!

So have a MERRY CHRISTMAS or/and other holidays; and hope to get one of your more extensive ASL updates before the year is out.

John

Re: Festung Budapest Update

What is the best website for finding additional ASL players in your local area?

By John N on   11/29/2011 2:16 PM

Re: Festung Budapest Update

Game Squad has a google map that players pin there location to. Other players have contacted me and its also nice resource if your trying to pick up out of print stuff.

Re: Festung Budapest Update

Chas -

I've heard soooooooooooooo much about you from various other websites and whether you or Mark Pitcavage are the super studs/ghosts of ASL past, present, and/or in the future (with MMP) ...all I want for Christmas (other than AP #8 and Festung Budapest whenever they ship) is one of your good old fashioned ASL updates like you did for the summertime update (especially concerning The RISING SUN status.)

And yes, despite once having the entire old Squad Leader line as a kid back in the 80's; I am still a green ASLer now (though a friend and I are working to change that); but hopefully you'll ignore my newbie status and will put that winter update in all of our ASL stockings before you hopefully enjoy a great holiday vacation to end the year and before you hit the Winter gaming bash in January.

Thanks again for your ASL work Chas; and happy holidays all here on the MMP blog site!

Re: Festung Budapest Update

If you REALLY want Partisan, Croix de Guerre, or Starter Kit 1 or 2, contact the office. We may have some hidden in a corner.

Code of Bushido and Gung Ho are being combined into Rising Sun, which should be available for preorder the first quarter of 2012. Hollow Legions (with desert) and Yanks will be reprinted after that, but in which order is not yet certain,

By Perry on   12/3/2011 6:30 PM

Re: Festung Budapest Update

Will the new RISING SUN have all the maps Code of the Bushido and Gung Ho both had included in those modules (though probably SK style maps), and will they have all the overlays included in both sets, and all the scenarios (and maybe more), and finally, will this new module have anything EXTRA that the previous modules did not have included?

Something new and exciting?!

Just curious - John

Re: Festung Budapest Update

John if you look on Chas' ASL update for may, everything in Rising Sun is listed. Someone asked question then. Its about halfway down the blog.

Re: Festung Budapest Update

Thanks a ton Mike!

And my apologies to you Chas when I didn't know you had already spent the time making quite the incredibly detailed update concerning RISING SUN and all of its contents back in one of your much older blog entries. I had only been reading the last two (The ASL Summer update and this one) Looking forward to not only receiving my copy of AP #8 and Festung Budapest; but when RISING SUN starts its pre-orders too!

Go Chas! Go ASL community! And Go MMP!

Re: Festung Budapest Update

I agree with everyone that gave kudos out to Chas. I believe the things that he is doing will go down as legendary in the ASL world. These are the good ol' days. Remember the Texas Team Tournament's 20th Anniversary is this June. Make your plans and book early. texas-asl.com/ Thanks Chas, and hope to see you there so we can play again.

Re: Festung Budapest Update

If Yanks is OOP, how do I get the complete US order of battle? Are the counters in various Action Packs?

Re: Festung Budapest Update

Chris,
The action packs AFAIK contain no counters. On the other hand the Started Kits do. However for the full US OOB you will have to wait for the re-print of Yanks. Yanks and other OOP core moduels should have been re-printed years ago but MMP seems to have decided to print new materials instead of thinking of the neubie. Having said that I must also point out that the Starter Kit series of games was an absolutely fantastic idea and will bring new players into the ASL universe!

Re: Festung Budapest Update

"Next up for ASL will be the next Journal - i'll get Chas to post an update on that."

umm, ummm? Chas? Clue us in!

By BDermer on   2/2/2012 9:07 PM

aslsk #2

Chas,
Being new to the ASL front, my neighbor and I found ourselves very cought up in ASL, and we are starving for more. We have enjoyed the rate at which the aslsk series was designed to feed us the rules, but we are unable to find aslsk #2, so our issue is if we skip to sk#3, we will miss practicing the rules from sk#2. If mmp has no plans to print more sk#2, is there any plans to release the rules and a scenario, so we can continue to enjoy this wonderful game!
Thanks
Mike

Re: Festung Budapest Update

Just curious where the Starter Kit 2 reprint is in the overall printing/distribution schedule?

Thank you, and keep up the great work. My son and I are having a great time playing through SKs 1, 3, and the expansion pack. I also picked up the ASLRB and am working my way through that. Advanced Squad Leader is awesome! MMP rocks!

Sincerely,
Tim

Re: Festung Budapest Update

First and foremost - Status updates on RISING SUN??? (And mentioned Journal #10?)

But moving onward, a curious thought... has MMP ever considered using those incredible "D" ring binders for their rulebooks that not only allow MORE STORAGE in the binders for subsequent chapter additions but they also help PREVENT DAMAGE to the sheets if not stored in page protectors as many ASLers often do as they expand their RULE BOOKs. Just a thought - and I wonder what other ASLers here think; as well as what the powers that be think at MMP?

Thanks!
