Ken,
Fantastic Job for running a great tournament. I had a lot of fun playing against a lot of good people from all over the world (USA, New Zealand, Germany, France, and Australia).
And wow, what a tight finish. I never would have expected such a close ending. Kenneth and I both won 6 out of 7 matches, and posted an AAR for each round. The only difference was his Smashing Victory point for Warriors of God in round four when he won with the English in 11 turns and 36 points, and I won with the English in 8 turns and 32 points (the higher points, not quicker French surrender, being the deciding factor!).
Well done Kenneth! Nice comeback from your round one loss!!
Too bad we didn’t have another round or two to play-off the last spots. I guess that’s the down side to having more than one game option to play each round, but I certainly wouldn’t want to give up that flexibility.
I’d also love to see longer games get into the tournament, like the campaign versions of the SCS games, or the full game of AMDT, or some Grand Tactical Series games. Of course, then you might have to alter the length of each round, which would in turn reduce the number of rounds, and again hamper the ability to play down to the ONE Ironman.
Ken, Any thoughts on season 2 of the MMP Ironman??
Thank you Ken and everyone I played against (Doug, Dan, Mike, Murray, Chris, Laurent, and Darryl). I really appreciated the opportunity to play each of those games.
Dan

Ken,
I concur with Dan on how great a job it is for running such a fantastic tournament. I also have a lot of fun playing against a lot of great players. Although I do not have a chance to play with people from other countries like Dan did. All my opponents are great guys and great players, I have been challenged intellectually and sometimes physically (trying to find the time to finish the game, with my busy schedule), this tournament is indeed an "Ironman" challenge.
And yep, as Dan have pointed out, what a tight finish. I have not been thinking about winning after my lost on the first round and what a bad lost it is, yielding a Smashing Victory point to my opponent - Jason Neff. All along after that, I was shooting for the second place! . It is hard to believe nobody have won all seven games and written an AAR for each (that will be 28 points and will beat me by a point). And Dan, I was thinking you will be the winner of the tournament as you have done a great job for a long while. Yep, looks like that Smashing victory was a deciding factor and it is as Smashing victory is, quite objective.
Dan, I hope I will have a chance to play you, maybe in the future, and too bad as you have said, we did not have another round to play-off for the first place... I know that you are a formidable opponent.
Thanks for all the praises and congrats. I think all players who have completed all seven games can be called Ironman and are truely the winner in this tournament. I salute to all of you and it has been an honor for me to play against each one of you (Jason, Gary, Larry, Ken, Michael, Bill and Kevin). I really appreciated the opportunity to play those games and to know each one of my opponent.
And again for Ken Dunn, congrates and thanks for doing such an awesome job. Really appreciated your time and effort and MMP's generosity for this great experience.
Looking forward and if have a chance for the second Ironman Tournament.
--- Ken ---

| Ironman Announcement - Wednesday, February 02, 2011
What: A tournament composed of seven rounds of game play of MMP games. Each round (approximately one round each six weeks) will require the competitive play of one game from a list of two different MMP games announced prior to the start of the round. Participants pick one game and finish it within the time frame allowed. Points will be awarded based on performance. A running total will be kept. There will be a prize for first place!
How: MMP (via its designated tournament director Ken Dunn) will pair up tournament participants who have picked the same title. Once paired, opponents can play the game via any venue they agree on: face to face, VASSL, Cyberboard, etc. MMP will make the pairings and notify all players at the start of the round. We will make every attempt to pair opponents who want the same type of gaming venue.
When: First round starts February 15th. (Just after Valentine's Day so you guys can deal with the important stuff!) Simply send an email to ken@multimanpublishing.com by February 12 to sign up. Include your contact information: name, address, email, preferred method of play, and time zone. The Rounds are scheduled approximately as follows:
Round 1: 2/15 - 3/30
Round 2: 3/30 – 5/15
Round 3: 5/15 - 6/30
Round 4: 6/30 – 8/15
Round 5: 8/15 - 9/30
Round 6: 9/30 - 10/15
Round 7: 10/15 - 11/30
Round 8 (if needed as tiebreaker): 11/30 – 12/30 (This will be a speed round.)
Participants may skip up to two rounds, but skipping more than 2 rounds results in disqualification.
Prior to the start of each round, MMP will announce the two featured games for the upcoming round. Email Ken prior to the start of a round to announce your participation, what game you want to play, and your preferred venue. If opponents get paired despite having requested different venues, MMP will (if no venue can be agreed upon within 48 hours of the start of the round) decide on the venue.
Scoring: Each win earns 2 Points. There is an extra Point for a "Smashing Victory" (at the sole discretion of MMP), 1 point for playing the game to completion (early concessions considered "played to completion" only on approval of MMP), and 1 point for an After Action Report posted on the MMP website and approved by MMP. Ties will be broken via various tiebreakers as decided by MMP.
What if I don't own the Games?! For each round, the two featured games will be offered at 20% off the retail price prior to and throughout the round to participants of the tournament only.
First place receives an engraved plaque plus choice of either: 1) a trip to Winter Offensive, MMP's charity tournament, usually held in the middle of January (fine print - MMP pays for 3 nights hotel stay, up to $500 for travel expenses, and $100 for food. or 2) every new game MMP publishes in 2012 free of charge.
Second place also receives goodies.
Ken has posted the first two games in the General discussion in the Forum here: ASL and Iwo Jima: Rage Against the Marines. See his post for details.
You know you want to play the games. Now you have an even better reason. Be the MMP Ironman and lord it over your inferiors.
